HUFC would like to announce that with effect from 1 January 2017, Mr Winston Wong, Deputy Chairman HUFC, will succeed Mr Anselm Lopez as Chairman HUFC. Mr Anselm Lopez has served as Chairman since October 2012 and has been a member of the Management Committee of HUFC since 1998.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank Mr Anselm Lopez for his invaluable contributions to the club during his tenure. Under his chairmanship, HUFC broke new ground through the launch of the Home United Youth Football Academy (HYFA). The academy has been pivotal in ensuring the success of the club at youth level, with its youth teams dominant in the various league and cup competitions. In particular, the Prime League has shown sustained success through the years of his chairmanship, culminating in winning both the League and Cup tournaments this year. Our youth players have also been frequently called up to represent Singapore, which is testament to the strength of the system under Mr Lopez’s chairmanship.
Under Mr Lopez’s chairmanship, the club has also continued to make strides in the local league, reaching 3 consecutive RHB Cup finals and qualifying for continental competition twice, despite fielding one of the younger sides in the league. Off the field, HUFC has expanded its community engagement activities working with numerous organisations and allowing numerous youths to benefit from its resources.
HUFC wishes Mr Anselm Lopez the best of luck in his future endeavours and would like to once again express our gratitude for his contributions to the club and to Singapore football.
