Shariff Abdul Samat is back at "Home", after a successful three year spell at Tampines Rovers FC. Shariff represented Home United FC in 2005, when he was a Prime League player. In 2007, Shariff capped a successful season with Tampines Rovers FC, clinching S-League's Young Player Of The Year Award.

Commenting on the signing of Shariff Abdul Samat, Home United FC's General Manager Mr Mahalingam said " With Ismail Yunos seriously injured and Subramani retired from football, HUFC needed another centreback. HUFC looked at the National players but none were available. We then scouted the clubs and saw Shariff as an ideal choice. After successful negotiations, Shariff Abdul Samat was signed. HUFC hopes Shariff can provide competition in the centreback position and combine well with Valery Heik and Sharil Alias."

We caught up with Shariff Abdul Samat for a quick interview.

1. How does it feel to be back at HUFC ?

I feel good. There are a lot of familiar faces still around from my time here in 2005.

2. What are your aims for the 2010 season ?

I want to do well for Home United FC, winning at least a silverware! As a defender, I want Home United FC to have the meanest defence. My big aim is to make it into the National team!

3. You've been signed to replace our Captain S.Subramani who recently retired from football. Do you feel any pressure ?

There is a certain amount of pressure, but i am confident to face the challenge. Having been at Tampines for the past three years, playing with a group of senior players has helped me matured as a player. This will put me in good stead for the challenge.

4. Pre-season has started. How has it been so far ?

It's been tough. We've been put through a whole new set of exercises which is a real eye opener. Beep test is coming up and i want to do well in it.

HUFC wishes Shariff Abdul Samat a successful time back at Home United FC!
