New Ag. GM At Home United FC

Mr S Mahalingam, Deputy Superintendent from Singapore Prison Service, was seconded to Home United Football Club on 3 Aug 09 and has since taken over as Ag. General Manager (Football). A Senior Prison Officer with 39 years of operations, management and rehabilitation experiences was recruited to manage the Club's football affairs and team.
Mr Mahalingam also brings along with him, his many years of volunteerism with Football Association of Singapore. Since 1981, he has volunteered his service to FAS and was holding the post of Vice-Chairman, International Competitions Committee for many years. He was member of the organizing committee of several International and local soccer competitions, events etc. His long years of association with FAS saw him involved in Italia 90 World Cup - Asia Final Round, Asian Cup Final and several Tiger Cup Tournaments, Sea Games and Tiger 5s.
He has attended FIFA, AFC and AFF organized courses on soccer management as well as FIFA Seminar. He brings along his vast experience and knowledge on managing football and will be an asset to HUFC. For his long service to FAS, he received the SSC Certificate of Commendation for Sports and FAS Special Award. HUFC hopes that with his recruitment, he can inject more professionalism in running the Club affairs and team.
When asked to comment on his role at HUFC, he said that he was at HUFC for a purpose and wish to deliver what everyone wants in football, that is, the Club to be successful and win trophies. There is no point in having a club and participating without success. He hopes that the Club will be a major player in local football scene and not playing "second fiddle to other clubs." He added that "Football is a team game and the Club officials, coaches and players have to pull together for success and HUFC needs success stories if it is to stay in football business."
Mr S Mahalingam will takeover the Culb's activities from 14 Oct 09 when he is officially appointed as the Ag. General Manager (Football) by HUFC. HUFC warmly welcomes him and wish him success in his new appointment.
