HUFC Under 16s Clinches FAS COE Challenge Cup
6th December 2009
HUFC Under 16s had swept aside all during the group stages and reached the final with a thumping 4-1 semi-final win over Tampines Rovers FC. Talented Mohd Iqbal B Hamid Hussain proved the team's talisman as his return from NFA U-16 for the Challenge Cup injected much firepower. As shown in the group matches, Mohd Iqbal continued his goalscoring exploits by netting a brace in the semi-final win. In the final, he scored the opening goal late in the first half to set up our Young Protectors for a 2-1 win.
It was a memorable evening for our HUFC Under 16s as apart from clinching the Challenge Cup trophy, our team picked up many other awards.
Midfielder Suresh Kumar was named the Under 16 League's "Most Outstanding Player". The student from Whitley Secondary School was a consistent performer throughout the year and played a key role in the cup winning team. Suresh Kumar is another product of the tie up between Home United FC and Whitley Secondary School. In past years, many players from Whitley Secondary School have been discovered and groomed for success.

Striker Azim Riaz Bin Abu Hanifah picked up the Top-scorer award after netting a total of 12 goals. The burly and hardworking forward was a constant threat to opposing defences with his hard running and powerful shots.
With the team and players picking up the awards, the man behind it all was not to be forgotten. HUFC Under 16 Head Coach, Hairil Amin (seen below receiving the award from outgoing Technical Director Slobodan Pavkovic) picked up the "Under 16 Coach of the Year". His hard work throughout the year was deservedly rewarded.

Congratulations to all award winners !
