This year's S-League Awards Night was held at the Mediacorp Studios on Monday evening to celebrate the end of the 2009 season. Home United FC had several nominations and it was our very own Valery Hiek who picked up the biggest prize of them all. Valery was named Great Eastern Player of the Year, and he beat the likes of Japanese hotshot Kenji Adachihara and Gombak United's top marksman Gabriel Obatola to the much coveted award.

Valery has been a rock in defence for HUFC all season long and his consistent performances have caught the eye of the panel of judges. On winning the much coveted award, Valery said " I think i played very well this year. Sometimes, it's very difficult for a defender to stand out, so i'm very happy"

Valery, who first came to Singapore in 2008 when he signed for Home United FC on a two year contract, is a soft spoken person who lets his feet do the talking on the field. With S.Subramani out with long term injury, Valery stepped up and led the defence superbly. He formed a good understanding with fellow centre-back Sharil Alias and this pairing played 18 matches together. Valery's consistent performances was one of the reasons Home United FC did well defensively. Apart from defensive duties, Valery also chipped in with 6 goals this season.

Mr S.Mahalingam, General Manager, Home United FC said " HUFC's Management is pleased with his performances throughout the year and rewarded him with a 2 year extension to his current contract".

Home United FC's other Cameroonian Kengne Ludovick, was presented with the "100 Goals" Award and last of all, Rosman Sulaiman went on stage to receive HUFC's Singapore Pools Fair Play Award. In today's context, it is not easy to win the Fairplay Trophy. Our team has maintained a high level of discipline and clamness in a highly competitive environment.

Congratulations to all our winners !
