World Cup Final - HUFC's Staff Predicts Winner!

10th July 2010

The 2010 World Cup Final is just around the corner. We caught up with seven of Home United FC's staff as they predict the winner. Can the Dutch led by the impressive Wesley Sneijder finally triumph in a World Cup Final or will the Spanish pass masters add the World Cup trophy to their European Crown?

S.Mahalingam, General Manager

Winner: Holland

The Dutch have appeared in two previous Finals in 1974 & 1978 and lost on both occasions. This time round i hope they will be third time lucky and win the World Cup! It will be a close fought match as both sides are evenly matched and possess many match winners, who can turn the match in their favour. It'll be a good and interesting match.

Foo Seck Lye, Assistant General Manager (Fanclub & Marketing)

Winner: Spain

Both teams are equally good but i pick Spain as they appear the side hungrier for World Cup success. They will want to add the big prize to their European Crown they won in 2008. Spain plays more attacking football than Holland.

Peter Lim, Assistant Manager

Winner: Holland

Spain is a good team but Holland are scoring goals. Holland's attacking will triumph for this evenly contested match.

S.Subramani, S-League Assistant Coach

Winner: Spain

My bet will be on Spain because they are peaking at the right moment. At the same time, we've yet to see their best and i'm sure they will save the best performance for the Final. They are a team with great attacking flair.

Bernard Lan, Prime League Coach

Winner: Spain

Spain is able to keep possession well. When they lose possession, they are a cohesive unit in pressing opponents and winning back possession. The Spainards play simple, effective football and possess good combination play.

Hairil Amin, Under 16 Coach

Winner: Holland

Holland's attacking is more potent than Spain's. Spain is defensively strong but their attack seems to be missing something.

Philippe Aw, Under 18 Coach

Winner: Spain

Spain has been quietly going about their business without much fanfare. After the shock loss to the Swiss, they have bounced back winning all the remaining matches with a single goal margin. The Spainards have better quality in reserve and someone like the speedy Jesus Navas can come on and turn the match. It'll be an interesting final and one that the whole world is anticipating.

Overall, it's 4-3 to Spain. An exciting match awaits us and let's hope for a great match to end the 2010 World Cup!
