Prime League 2010 - Five Star Protectors Cruise To Victory !
29th March 2010
Home United FC kept its winning momentum in the Prime League 2010 season with a five star performance. Our Protectors smashed 5 goals past a hapless Woodlands Wellington FC side, and were in total control throughout the 90 minutes. Ridzuan Fatah, Sharil Alias and Azhar Sairudin were the senior players given a run-out after playing no part in S-League's win over Sengkang Punggol FC on Friday.
It was Azhar Sairudin, who opened the flood gates early in the match. Home United were awarded a freekick at the edge of the box and Azhar stepped up and scored with a superb freekick that gave the Woodlands custodian
no chance. Minutes before half-time, Home United should have doubled the lead but Ridhwan Osman failed to convert his retaken spot kick. The penalty decision saw Woodlands reduced to ten men. Azhar's run out in this match was to be cut short, when he was sent off nearing half-time. The referee judging Azhar kicking out at Woodlands' Faiz Rahim.
Faizal Samad doubled the lead early in the second half when he ran through to receive Captain Firdaus Kasman's clipped pass and calmly nicked the ball past the on rushing goalkeeper. Woodlands Wellington were then reduced to nine players with 20 minutes to go.
It was 3-0 after Fazil forced an own goal. Fazil was to turn creator again when he crossed low for substitute Mohd Haniff to score. Haniff doubled his own tally minutes before full-time when he ran through to slot past the goalkeeper.
It could have been many more but the match ended 5-0 in favour of our Protectors. Home United will next play Geylang United FC this coming Wednesday at the Bedok Stadium.
