Sengkang Punggol FC VS Home United FC

Home United FC struggled to overcome a defensive Sengkang Punggol FC but managed to edge the encounter with a goal in the last minute of the match. New signing Korean Chun Jae Woon stepped up to slot home the winner for a hard fought 1-0 victory.

Head Coach Lee Lim Saeng once again played Korean forward Choi Chul Woo in central defence, alongside Valery Heik. This is the third match running now our Protectors have lined up the pair in central defence. This has resulted in two clean sheets on the trot and the early season of shipping in goals has somehow been rectified.

Sengkang Punggol FC had two new signngs in Korean midfielder An Jae Cheul and Japanese defender Kenji Arai. Kenji, formerly from SAFFC, was brought in to stabilize a young and inexperienced defence. The Japanese certainly did that as he was a rock in defence and frustrated Home United FC on many occasions.

Home United FC had the better of the proceedings, and created several chances to score. On 25 minutes Chun Jae Woon saw his right footed curler just missed the goal. It was Sharil Ishak next to come close as he nearly got to Firdaus Kasman's cross. Minutes before half-time, Shahdan Sulaiman wasted a good chance when he shot wide after being played through by Sharil Ishak.

In the second half, livewire Firdaus Idros was brought on to replace Isa Halim. Firdaus was his usual self, buzzing with his neat footwork and trickery. As the match grew and remained goalless, Home United threw on Canadian forward Sherif El-Masri and Sufian Anuar. The latter is in a rich vein of scoring form after coming back from an injury. Sufian has notched 4 goals in two Prime League games, and scored against Woodlands Wellington FC in the last match. With little time left, Home United was awarded a freekick and as the ball was delivered into the box towards Choi Chul Woo, substitute R.Sivaneswaran was judged by referee to have tug Choi back. Penalty ! Our Protectors were delighted, and the Sengkang Punggol FC players disgusted. Chun Jae Woon made no mistake from the penalty spot and sealed a crucial 1-0 win.
