Geylang United FC VS Home United FC

The last time both these teams met at the Clementi Stadium, Home United FC ran out easy winners. For this return match at Bedok Stadium, many felt it would be a close encounter as Geylang United FC's form picked up after an early season struggle. It was not to be as our Protectors once again ran out comfortable 3-0 winners. Captain Sharil Ishak notching his first ever hat-trick in a Home United FC shirt.

Much attention was paid to Home United's new Korean signing Chun Jae Woon. In his first two appearances for the Club, the attacking midfielder showed his quality, by setting up a goal and scoring the winner in the match against Sengkang Punggol FC.

Home United got off to a good start and took the lead in the eighth minute. Sharil Ishak earning a penalty after Geylang defender Walid Lounis felled him in the box. Sharil Ishak picked himself up and slotted past Yazid Yassin in Geylang United's goal. On 23 minutes, Sharil Ishak doubled his tally when he capitalised on a Jonathan Xu mistake and slotted confidently past an on rushing Yazid.

Geylang were struggling going forward but did create some half chances which Peter Tomko and Kim Jae Hong failed to make use. Home United could have made it 3-0 before half-time, but Yazid Yassin made a superb save to deny Valery Heik.

Home United FC then made a tactical switch at half-time, with Choi Chul Woo dropping into a centreback role. On 57 minutes, Home United FC got another boost, as Walid Lounis was sent off for a rash tackle. With numerical supremacy, Home United looked set for the win, their third in a row. Home United sealed the match on 69 minutes, when Shi Jiayi fed Sharil Ishak for his third to complete a fantastic hat-trick.

The win makes it three on the trot and our Protectors will be confident when they next take on Tampines Rovers FC on 28th June 2010, at the Clementi Stadium.
